Mobile Phone Website Design

Did you know that the Australian Communications and Media Authority says there is more than one mobile phone for every person in Australia. Increasingly mobile phones are being used to access the internet and possibly your website.

Websites can be designed to be easier to use on the small screens on a Mobile phone, as well as being optimised for the lower bandwidth although this can be more complicated
than most people realise.

Effective mobile websites take the small screen, limited bandwidth and range of mobile phone web browsers into consideration.

There are some basic fundamentals which need to be considered when designing of an effective mobile phone web site, they include:

•planning the site’s content
•limiting the text to the most important messages
•making the site easily navigatible as possible
•reducing the size and number of images
•avoiding animation, JAVA and flash which don’t work on some mobile phones
•ensuring WC3 Standards compliance
•listing phone numbers on the pages so they can be easily clicked on by the PDA/mobile phone user
•providing clear and simple links to aid navigation through the site.

There is even mobile website domains – .MOBI reserved just for mobile websites

Three things to consider when having your computer repaired

Some quick planning before having your computer repaired can save you from lost data and further inconvenience.

Prompt Computer Repairs

When your computer fails it invariably happens at acritical time like in the middle of creating important documents. so when you are looking for computer repair services, keep in mind that a prompt response is very important.

Loan or rental computer

If the computer repair requires replacement of major units, there may be a delay as components are ordered and supplied.
In these situations it may be convenient to arrange for a temporary computer, although managing your data is also very important to ensure the updated data is safely preserved and not lost when you return the temporary system to its owners.

Don’t loose data

Before your computer is repaired, consider what information may be on it that could potentially be lost.
Even if you regularly backup your computer, there may be some new data since your last backup session which wouldbe at risk.

If there is unprotected data, it is important to alert the computer repair technician so that this is not inadvertently deleted unless absolutely necessary.

Unfortunately if the hard drive has failed you may loose this information anyway :(

Jim’s Computer Services can assist with computer  technicians who can repair your computer promptly to let you get back to work.

Safety padding –  Making sports safer

Jul 25th, 2010

Safety padding

Basketball is actually a fun, exciting game, and is enjoyable to watch and play. But it can get aggressive and intense as the competition gets underway. When playing basketball at home, in the community, or at your local sports centre, safety is a must. Making sure your equipment is safe gives peace of mind as you play or watch others play.

There is a range of features that can enhance safety and reduce the risk of injury and a good one is adding safety padding to your goal post. Since the poles are made of steel, a collision could be painful and dangerous, especially if a player were to hit his or her head.

Safety padding acts as a buffer between players and the poles that support the basketball system. goal. They are made of foam and covered in vinyl and are kept in place by Velcro.

Some pole safety pads come with a pyramid shaped gusset pad. This pad covers base plates, gussets, and anchor bolts. Players will appreciate this added safety feature when they tumble out of bounds. Safety padding is all weather which means they can be used on indoor or outdoor basketball systems.

Another way to stay safe is to purchase a ground anchor kit. Anchor kits help mount your basketball system. This is ideal for an adjustable or portable system that will remain in one place of a long period of time. It helps add extra stability to the goal system. Most anchor kits are easy to use and can be removed when needed.

Backboard pads are another important safety feature that is available. It may seem pointless to put pads on a backboard since many players do not jump that high. However, for those who slam dunk, and especially for adjustable systems that can be lowered, backboard pads are a must. These pads protect your head from the sharp edges of the backboard. Most pads are made of a thin enough material to not interfere with rebounds or the quality of the backboard.

Statistically speaking, the net and rim have the most direct contact with players. So you want to make sure these features are safe. Most nets are made of anti whip nylon which is great for protecting hands and fingers that may get tangled. The anti whip feature prevents a rope burn from hurting the skin. You should choose a rim that has a totally enclosed mechanism so that if contact is made with the rim, hands and fingers will not be injured.

If you take just a few safety features into consideration when purchasing a basketball system, you can enjoy years of injury free play. Even if the competition is fierce, the players will be protected from injury, as least when it comes to the equipment.

So enjoy some fun competition with a basketball hoop and goal that is durable and safe.
